Will Johnson leverages his broad litigation experience to support clients through every stage of a case.
Will represents major automakers, original equipment manufacturers, motor carriers and other industry-leading clients. He is committed to achieving a client’s unique goals and is prepared to take a case to trial when necessary.
Before joining Lightfoot, Will spent more than four years as an associate at a mid-sized Southeast civil litigation firm. During his tenure in their transportation practice group, he represented motor carriers and individuals in accident-related investigations and litigation in both state and federal court. Will’s previous experience includes successful defense of a hazmat carrier in a high-exposure chemical release case through jury trial, successful defense of a publicly traded company in a successor liability action, and the defense and resolution of multiple catastrophic injury, high-exposure lawsuits and claims. Will takes pride in developing authentic relationships with his clients as he works through the process of litigation with them and is never more fulfilled than when his clients experience the payoff of their preparation.
Will serves as an executive board member of the Young Lawyers Section of the Birmingham Bar Association. He holds a J.D. from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. While pursuing his law degree, Will served as an associate editor for the American Journal of Trial Advocacy and was a Judge Abraham Caruthers Teaching Fellow in legal writing. Prior to attending law school, Will spent a year at an Am Law 200 firm as a case support specialist. Recently, his peers selected him for inclusion in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America in 2024 and 2025.
Outside of the office, Will can be found spending time with friends and family, smoking barbeque, or—if he is lucky—on the golf course.
