Wesley Smithart brings advocacy experience to her defense litigation work.
A determined litigator with a passion for advocacy, Wesley represents clients in disputes involving product liability, medical malpractice, white collar criminal enforcement and personal injury. Her clients include a Fortune100 technology company, a Fortune100 automotive manufacturer and several healthcare providers, as well as large national insurance, trucking and manufacturing companies.
Wesley forges strong relationships with her clients in order to understand their unique needs and circumstances. In addition to her defense litigation work, Wesley is part of the firm’s hiring committee, and is the mentoring program vice chair for the Women in the Law Committee for the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association. She currently serves as the Treasurer of the Alabama State Bar Young Lawyers Section. Wesley regularly handles pro bono work, and has worked on several death penalty cases in Alabama.
After graduating from Huntingdon College, Wesley earned a Masters of Theological Studies with a concentration in human rights from Emory University in Atlanta. At Emory, Wesley honed her interest in the legal system by teaching a course on restorative justice in a women’s prison and interning for a drug court program before attending law school at the University of Alabama.
Wesley and her husband love calling Birmingham’s historic Forest Park home. On the weekends, they enjoy exploring Birmingham’s vibrant food scene, and during the summer, you’ll often find them with family at Lake Martin.
