Caroline Leak leverages her strong communication and research skills in every case she works on.
Caroline applies the reading, writing and research skills she developed as a former journalist every day as an attorney. She embraces these skills with her passion for the law, preserving the delicate balance between justice and the best interests of her clients.
As an associate, Caroline will handle product liability and commercial litigation matters for equipment manufacturers, national automakers, a national transportation rental company and a multinational chemical company.
As a two-time former Lightfoot summer clerk in 2022 and 2023, Caroline supported the firm’s trial attorneys with research on venue transfer, premises liability and the Apex Doctrine. She also clerked at a Birmingham-based full-service law firm and externed for U.S. District Judge Kelly Fitzgerald Pate of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama.
Caroline holds a J.D. from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, where she excelled as a Caruthers Legal Writing Fellow, mentoring and helping first-year students in their research, writing and other fundamental skills. Additionally, she served as the online managing editor and junior editor for the Cumberland Law Review, and was the vice president of the Cumberland Student Bar Association.
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in journalism and Spanish from Washington and Lee University, Caroline worked for two years as a news producer for WAFF 48 News in Huntsville, Alabama. In this role, she led a diverse team of news reporters, anchors and crew while making countless daily decisions in high-pressure situations. Both of these roles equipped her to navigate high-pressure situations while providing excellent client service.
When she’s not in the office, Caroline enjoys volunteering as a junior board member for the Woolley Institute for Spoken-Language Education, an organization dedicated to educating, supporting and empowering parents of children who are deaf or hard of hearing. She also enjoys spending time with her friends and family, playing golf and taking care of her plants.
