Ben Harmon brings tireless dedication to each and every case.
A versatile litigator, Ben primarily focuses his practice on commercial, business and environmental matters while also handling medical malpractice and product liability cases. His clients include several Fortune 100 companies.
Over his years in practice, Ben has mastered the art of problem-solving for his clients by adopting a practical approach. When taking on a new matter, he will drill down to the core problem to find the solution and then let that guide him through the entire case, adjusting as needed. Ben values being “in the trenches” with his clients and prioritizes collaboration and clear communication. He has worked on numerous complex class actions, as well as major environmental litigation, and he has resolved those matters to client satisfaction.
Outside the courtroom, Ben dedicates a significant portion of his time to supporting the Birmingham community. He sits on the board of the Alabama Appleseed Center for Law & Justice, a nonprofit organization that is focused on confronting unjust systems through research, bridge-building and advocacy to create an Alabama that prioritizes justice and opportunity. As part of his work on the board, Ben has drafted an amicus brief on behalf of the organization in support of an individual convicted of a capital crime—a conviction that has since been called into significant question by Jefferson County’s District Attorney. He also supports the organization’s pending litigation and strategy.
Ben earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School, graduating cum laude while simultaneously earning a Master in Public Policy. He clerked for Chief Justice Ralph D. Gants of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts.
Originally from Birmingham, Ben enjoys biking, running and hiking with his wife and their dog, Winnie. He is married to Dr. Katie Grisanti, an allergist and immunologist at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Children’s Hospital of Alabama. He enjoys cheering on Arsenal F.C., the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Crimson Tide.
