Sandy Hooper Interviewed by ICI RDI About U.S. Presidential Election

September 9, 2024

Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partner Sanford “Sandy” G. Hooper has made four guest appearances this summer on ICI RDI, a Canadian French-language TV news channel owned by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

The Montreal-based news station sought Hooper's input on the concerns of U.S. voters for its French-speaking Canadian audience, with the U.S. presidential election on Nov. 5 rapidly approaching.

In his recent interviews, he served as a commentator for both the Republican National Convention and Democratic National Convention, including live commentary on speakers at both conventions. Hooper was previously interviewed by the news channel in the run-up to the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections.

Hooper began learning French while in high school in Memphis and focused on improving his language skills in college. He later worked in France as an English teacher and then for a U.S. senator on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

He shared his enthusiasm for discussing American politics with the French-Canadian media, saying, “These interviews give me a chance to indulge in two of my favorite hobbies: speaking French and trying to make sense of American politics. Both are challenging in their own way and neither is ever boring.”

Hooper’s law practice focuses on product liability, premises liability, transportation litigation and medical device litigation. He has deep experience defending automobile and heavy truck manufacturers as well as motor carriers in lawsuits arising from catastrophic accidents.
