Sam McAllister Profiled by Legal Tech Influencer Colin Levy

Legal tech influencer Colin Levy has profiled Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC’s director of litigation technology, Sam McAllister. McAllister’s interview is among several that Levy conducted to kick off his new website covering all things legal technology. 

McAllister, a 2022 Fastcase 50 honoree, got his feet wet in coding as a child while creating baseball card databases and local company websites. Today, he develops custom trial presentations, apps and litigation analysis tools for Lightfoot’s attorneys and clients. He talked with Levy about his background, career path and some of the most challenging legal tech projects he developed at Lightfoot. He also discussed how law firms can introduce, integrate and implement technology to strengthen their day-to-day practice.

“I think you’d be hard-pressed to find any firms that are still around in 2023 that haven’t fully embraced technology – and, to that point, you’ll find even fewer five years from now,” McAllister said. “Technology is key to competing in today’s tight legal marketplace with so much competition, not just from other law firms but also ALSPs, accounting firms, et. cetera.”

McAllister provides Lightfoot’s clients a unique blend of art and science tailored specifically for the fast-paced world of high-stakes litigation. He has been with the firm for 15 years and is an integral part of expanding innovation into all aspects of Lightfoot’s work. He is the leader of the firm’s Case Clarity group, which provides highly-developed technology to clients throughout the duration of a case, e-discovery collaboration with Lightfoot lawyers and adaptive evidence models to make complex ideas simple.
