Rachel Lary and Amaobi Enyinnia Secure Dismissal for Product Liability Case Against a Major Automaker
March 16, 2023
Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partner Rachel Lary and associate Amaobi Enyinnia have secured the dismissal of a Georgia product liability case against a major automaker.
The plaintiff claimed he lost his left eye during an accident due to allegedly-defective glass. He amended his complaint on three occasions and then sought the federal court’s permission to do so for a fourth time in an attempt to add new claims and additional allegations. Lary and Enyinnia filed a renewed motion to dismiss on statute of limitations grounds after the third attempt and moved in opposition to that fourth attempt. The federal court sided with Lightfoot and the automaker on both issues.
Lightfoot has extensive experience in the defense of sophisticated and complex product liability cases for a range of products, including automobiles, consumer goods, medical devices and pharmaceuticals.
Lary leads Lightfoot’s product liability team for one of the largest automotive manufacturers, defending it against claims in ten Southeastern states and beyond. Her product liability work also includes defending a Fortune 500 company in high-stakes litigation across the country. She also serves as chair of the firm's Associate Committee.
Enyinnia’s practice focuses on commercial litigation, transportation, personal injury and product liability cases. He applies his experience working in business, government, e-discovery and clinical settings to advance a client’s goals and develop efficient solutions that “move the ball forward.”
