Liz Huntley Named to Alabama Governor’s Gambling Study Group
February 25, 2020
Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has named Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC lawyer Liz Huntley to a study group researching gambling in the state. The group is composed of 12 individuals from around the state with a variety of backgrounds. They will gather facts to assist the governor, legislature and residents in making informed decisions about expanding gaming in Alabama and deliver a report by the end of the year.
In addition to handling large corporate litigation matters at Lightfoot, Huntley is a committed child advocate and provides legal and consultation services to government and nonprofit agencies that serve children and families. She is frequently appointed by judges to represent the legal interests of children in civil cases.
Huntley also serves as a motivational speaker to various groups and organizations where she challenges audiences to adopt her “no excuses” philosophy. In 2015, she published her personal memoir, “More Than A Bird,” which recounts her childhood journey “from unimaginable darkness to radiance.” Huntley was named a Birmingham Bar Foundation Fellow in 2018.
