Liz Huntley Honors Auburn’s First African-American Student, Harold A. Franklin, at Dedication Ceremony

Lightfoot Senior Counsel and Director of Community Relations and Engagement Liz Huntley represented Auburn University Board of Trustees at a recent dedication honoring the University’s first African American student, Harold A. Franklin.
Huntley was present among other notable Auburn University individuals, including chair of the Auburn University Black Alumni Council Chacolby Burns-Johnson, Harold Franklin Jr., and Auburn University President Jay Gogue. The ceremony and celebration honored Franklin’s bravery and fortitude as Auburn’s first African American student, integrating the institution in January of 1964. Read the full article here.
Liz Huntley has dedicated her life and career alike to the advocacy of others. Liz serves on Children’s Village Board of Directors, the Alabama School Readiness Alliance, and University of Alabama School of Law Board of Governors. She is also the president and co-founder of The Hope Institute which provides resources and mentorship opportunities to students across the state. Most recently, Huntley was a featured speaker at the Birmingham Business Journal’s “Women’s Summit,” where she presented on the importance of lifelong learning.
