October 11, 2018
Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partner Haley A. Cox and associate Jeffrey P. Doss have been named to the Birmingham Business Journal’s “Rising Stars of Law” for 2018. The attorneys were featured in the publication’s October 12 issue.
The annual award celebrates local, up-and-coming attorneys under the age of 40. Honorees are selected based on their contributions to their firm, tangible results in their practice areas, and involvement in the community, among other factors.
“We’re proud to have Haley and Jeff selected for this well-deserved honor,” said Lightfoot managing partner Melody Eagan. “They have greatly contributed to Lightfoot’s success over the years and are both shining examples of why the future of the legal industry is bright.”
Cox tries cases and leads defense teams in a broad range of matters, including product liability, medical malpractice and serious personal injury claims. She is a trial-tested lawyer who has represented clients in a variety of venues across Alabama and Texas. She served as the chair of Lightfoot’s recruiting committee for many years, playing an instrumental role in recruiting Lightfoot’s next generation of lawyers and shaping the firm’s future.
Doss focuses on trial advocacy in the areas of white-collar criminal defense, internal investigations and complex civil litigation. He regularly conducts large-scale investigations stemming from employee and whistleblower complaints, regulatory inquiries and self-reporting requirements. Most recently, he served as Assistant Special Counsel to the Alabama House Judiciary Committee for the impeachment investigation of Governor Robert Bentley.
