Lightfoot's Ashby Pate Appointed Deputy Attorney General in Alabama State Board of Education Case

Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC of counsel R. Ashby Pate will serve as a deputy attorney general and represent former Interim State Superintendent of Education, Philip Cleveland. Pate was appointed by the state attorney general on March 3.
Cleveland is one of three Alabama State Department of Education employees named in a lawsuit filed by former state superintendent candidate, Craig Pouncey. Pouncey is the current Jefferson County Schools superintendent.
Pate focuses his practice on international disputes, appellate work, and commercial and medical device litigation. He routinely takes on some of the firm’s most controversial matters, including prosecuting a high-profile case that led to the suspension of a former chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court.
