Lightfoot Associate M. Wesley Smithart Selected for Alabama Leadership Initiative Class VII
November 13, 2024
Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC associate M. Wesley Smithart has been named to the seventh class of Leadership Alabama’s Alabama Leadership Initiative (ALI). Smithart was one of approximately 50 young professionals chosen after a competitive, comprehensive process. Class members are selected based on demonstrated leadership in their careers and commitment to the wider community.
Leadership Alabama, a non-profit organization, initiated the ALI to empower young professionals to enhance their leadership skills and learn from statewide experts about the issues impacting Alabama. Members of ALI Class VII will attend three two-day retreats, networking with other young leaders and getting an in-depth, meaningful look at the challenges Alabama faces. Class VII members will also explore public and private initiatives working to address these issues.
“It’s an honor to be a part of this incredible group of people,” Smithart said. “I’m passionate about advocacy and our state, and I hope to learn how I can help Alabama become a better place for the people who call it home.”
An Alabama native, Smithart represents clients in cases involving product liability, medical malpractice, white-collar criminal enforcement and personal injury. A member of Lightfoot’s hiring committee, she serves on the Executive Committee member for the Alabama State Bar Young Lawyers Section and is a member of the Birmingham Bar Association’s Future Leaders Forum Class of 2024.
