Lightfoot Sponsors Seventh Annual Jere F. White Jr. Trial Advocacy Institute
November 5, 2018
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (November 6, 2018) — Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC is proud to sponsor the 2018 Jere F. White Jr. Trial Advocacy Institute on November 9.
The continuing legal education (CLE) program will feature a "who's who" of skilled litigators and fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers. They will provide tips and advice on various aspects of trial work, including voir dire, opening statements, cross-examination and closing statements.
Lightfoot partner Harlan Prater is a planning chair for the event, and partners Mike Bell, Sam Franklin and Warren Lightfoot will serve as faculty.
Held in honor of Lightfoot founding partner Jere White, the Trial Advocacy Institute serves as the primary fundraising event for the Jere F. White Jr. Fellows Program at Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, White’s alma mater. Prior to his death in 2011, White and his wife, Lyda, established the program, which recruits outstanding students with strong academic credentials, a history of leadership and a commitment to service. The program develops lawyers who share these ideals that were so important to White.
“Jere personified the mission of Cumberland School of Law," said Cumberland Law School Dean Henry C. Strickland. “He was an inspired lawyer who was kind to everyone around him and who was committed to serving his family, his clients, and the entire community. He was also a phenomenally talented trial lawyer. Indeed, this institute named for Jere draws the very best trial lawyers in the country to speak largely because of their love and respect for Jere.”
The program is eligible for CLE credit, the amount of which depends on where an attorney is licensed. Learn more about the event and how to register here.
