Lightfoot Partners Serve as Speakers During ASCPA Education Event

On September 26, 2017, Lightfoot Franklin & White LLC partners Brandon K. Essig, Wesley B. Gilchrist and Sara Anne Ford served as speakers during an education event put on by the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA).
In his presentation, Essig discussed what accountants should know if they are served with a grand jury subpoena, as well as how to handle internal investigations, issues of privilege, and how to work with a client’s attorney.
Ford addressed financial disclosures and other representations and warranties from a litigation perspective. She provided insight into how accountants can best advise sellers to make complete disclosures to avoid post-transaction claims by buyers.
Participating in two sessions, Gilchrist addressed issues with respect to liability for accountants advising sellers and purchasers of businesses, and he presented a case study on the Alabama Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act.
