Lightfoot Partner Jack Sharman Quoted in Law360 Article on Cuomo Allegations
August 4, 2021
Major headlines have shown President Biden’s call for New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, to resign based on recent sexual assault allegations. Law360 called on Lighfoot Partner Jack Sharman to share his thoughts on the proceedings in their coverage.
"Impeachment is a peculiar animal,” Sharman shared. “It's part political, part legal and part constitutional. … [Lawmakers] are influenced by politics and the optics and by the conduct of the governor." He continues, "What I imagine will ultimately catch the attention of the New York Legislature is, did any of that inappropriate behavior lead to or cause the misuse of state property, money or assets or otherwise impede the function of the state office?"
Shaman serves as the chair of Lightfoot’s White Collar Criminal Defense & Corporate Investigations and provides decades of experience in the sector, including serving as leader of an Alabama House of Representatives inquiry into former Gov.
