Lightfoot Partner Jack Sharman Moves Bentley Investigation Forward
September 27, 2016
After a lengthy hearing on September 28, and at the request of Lightfoot partner Jack Sharman, the Alabama House Judiciary Committee adopted amended rules governing the impeachment investigation concerning Governor Bentley. Sharman is Special Counsel to the Committee for the investigation. Sharman also sought and obtained from the Committee subpoenas to witnesses who have failed to cooperate in the investigation, including the Office of the Governor.
"The office of the governor has flatly, adamantly and in every way possible made it clear that they are not going to cooperate," Sharman said to the Committee.
Sharman, 55, heads up Lightfoot’s white-collar defense and corporate internal-investigations practice. Before coming to Lightfoot from Washington, D.C., he was Special Counsel to the House Financial Services Committee for the Whitewater investigation involving President and Mrs. Clinton. Before the Whitewater investigation, he worked for a global Washington-based law firm and clerked for a federal appeals-court judge. He holds degrees from Harvard Law School, Washington University in St. Louis and Washington & Lee University.
Here is a post from Jack’s blog, White Collar Wire, about Congressional investigations, as well as "Learning In Congress", a 59-second film.
