July 14, 2016
The Alabama House Judiciary Committee has appointed Lightfoot partner Jack Sharman as Special Counsel to the Committee in the impeachment investigation concerning Governor Bentley.
"I am honored and humbled by the Committee's decision and the trust that it has placed in me," Sharman said. "I have promised the Chairman an investigation that will be vigorous but fair, mindful of the constitutional and legal issues in play."
Sharman, 55, heads up Lightfoot's white-collar defense and corporate internal-investigations practice. Before coming to Lightfoot from Washington, D.C., he was Special Counsel to the House Financial Services Committee for the Whitewater investigation involving President and Mrs. Clinton. Before the Whitewater investigation, he worked for a global Washington-based law firm and clerked for a federal appeals-court judge. He holds degrees from Harvard Law School, Washington University in St. Louis and Washington & Lee University.
