Lightfoot Partner Brian Kappel Demystifies the NCAA's IARP in Recent Sports Litigation Alert Article

Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partner Brian Kappel recently wrote an article for Sports Litigation Alert titled Tackling the IARP: A Litigator’s Approach to the NCAA’s Infractions Off-Ramp.

In the piece, Kappel discusses the NCAA’s Independent Accountability Resolution Process (IARP), established by the College Basketball Commission in August 2019. He notes the importance for institutions to espouse a “litigator’s mindset” to successfully navigate the IARP Process.

Brian serves on Lightfoot’s NCAA Compliance & Investigations practice group as he represents institutions, athletic administrators and prominent coaches in NCAA compliance interviews and investigations as well as in hearings before the NCAA Committee on Infractions and the Infractions Appeals Committee. The team also conducts internal investigations of campus issues involving Title IX, sexual misconduct and other student welfare matters.
