Lightfoot Managing Partner Melody Eagan Discusses Women Leading Law Firms on LAWsome Podcast

Lightfoot Franklin & White LLC managing partner Melody Eagan appeared on the LAWsome Podcast as a guest on March 28. During the episode she discussed the rise in the number of women leading law firms as well as the struggles and successes they experience.

Eagan also talked about her own path to becoming Lightfoot’s first female managing partner and shared insights on how law firms can support women leaders and create more inclusive cultures that play up the strengths of diverse teams and perspectives.

“As the legal industry’s recognition of the value of diversity has increased and evolved over the last 30 years, a similar recognition as to the importance of diverse leadership and women leadership across organizations has developed,” Eagan said. “With a diverse team, we better represent the interests of our clients through having that team together. When you look at our clients, judges, and juries, they’re diverse.”

Eagan became Lightfoot’s first female managing partner in 2018. She focuses her practice on product liability and medical malpractice cases. She also serves as regional counsel for a number of clients and has successfully tried numerous cases to verdict throughout the Southeast. Eagan previously served as president of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association and is a member of the Defense Research Institute, where she has served as a State Liaison for the DRI Women in the Law Committee.
