Lightfoot, Franklin & White’s Clint Speegle Quoted by Inside Higher Ed in Article on College and University Drone Policies
April 30, 2017
Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC associate Clinton T. Speegle was recently featured in an article by Inside Higher Ed, a digital media publication serving the higher education space. The article explored recent changes to the federal regulations that govern the use of drones and the use of the technology on college campuses.
“There’s no way we can foresee everything that’s going to come from this area,” Speegle said in the article. “The key, in my mind, is to make it a broad policy...and then be able to dial it back if you realize later that there is usage that is useful, needed and can be properly mitigated.”
Speegle is a member of the firm’s Aviation & Aerospace and NCAA Compliance & Investigations practices and has experience developing drone policies for universities across the country. He is a former U.S. Army aviation officer and holds a FAA commercial pilot license. While in the Army, Speegle drafted standard operating procedures and policies for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
