Lightfoot, Franklin & White Partner Ashby Pate Named to Leadership Birmingham’s 2022 Class
August 26, 2022
Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partner Ashby Pate has been named to the 2022 class of Leadership Birmingham. Each year, 50 community leaders from diverse backgrounds are chosen to participate in the program.
Through a series of monthly sessions, these leaders come to know and understand more about the Birmingham community and one another as they explore issues and exchange ideas. The goal is to provide them with information and networks so they can be more effective as leaders. Leadership Birmingham programs explore critical issues in education, government, health care, social services, diversity, criminal justice, economic development and quality of life. The opening retreat for this year’s cohort takes place this week.
“We’re proud to have Ashby participating in this selective program,” said Lightfoot managing partner Melody Eagan. “He’s an astute lawyer and emerging leader in the firm, the legal industry and the Birmingham community. I know he will represent us well.”
Pate is frequently invited to speak to organizations across the state and country. He focuses his practice on international disputes, appellate work, and commercial and medical device litigation. Pate routinely takes on some of the firm’s most controversial matters, including prosecuting a high-profile case that led to the suspension of former Alabama Supreme Court chief justice Roy Moore. As an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Palau, he helped design the island nation’s first-ever jury trial system.
