Corks and Confections’ event celebrated female leaders in Birmingham’s culinary scene
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (July 18, 2018) — The women of Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC hosted their second annual event on July 17. The “Corks and Confections” event at the Roots & Revelry Ballroom in Birmingham celebrated local female chefs and entrepreneurs who are making a difference in the culinary community.
A panel of women discussed their work in Birmingham’s thriving culinary scene, including:
- Becky Satterfield of Satterfield’s and Les Dames d’Escoffier International
- Paget Pizitz and Harriet Despinakis of Melt, Fancy’s and The Marble Ring
- Amanda Storey of Jones Valley Urban Farm
- Kristen Hall of Feast & Forest
- Bebe Goodrich of IceBox Coffee
The panelists discussed challenges facing female leaders in the industry, ways to build a better Birmingham, leadership issues and how to negotiate business deals as a woman in today’s climate.
“We’re grateful to have these inspiring women and their ideas here in Birmingham. Last night was all about celebrating their accomplishments and learning from their experiences,” said Lightfoot partner Tenley Armstrong, who led the panel discussion. “We’re excited for the future of this new Lightfoot tradition as we focus on developing more female leaders within the firm and throughout the community.”
In 2017, the firm hosted its first women’s networking event as part of ongoing efforts to promote the renaissance of downtown Birmingham. Dubbed “Prosecco at the Pizitz,” the gathering focused on efforts to promote the revitalization of the city’s core.
