Lightfoot Associates Published in Alabama Defense Lawyers Association Journal
May 9, 2018
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (May 10, 2018) — Two Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC associates have been published in the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (ADLA) Journal’s Spring 2018 issue.
Bridget Harris and Mary “Molly” Drake co-authored the article, “Evaluating Releases Under Alabama Law,” which outlines different types of legal releases and the questions to ask when considering one.
“With settlements dominating the world of litigation, we often find ourselves in the position of drafting releases instead of defending them or picking them apart,” write Harris and Drake. “Add in that clients include various waivers and releases in contracts as a matter of course, plus related questions like whether indemnification or insurance coverage exists, and we find ourselves surrounded by contracts, and, of course, releases.”
Harris primarily practices in the areas of catastrophic injury, fire and explosion, NCAA compliance and employment law cases. She graduated from The University of Alabama School of Law where she was the captain of the Trial Advocacy Competition team, which was named Southeast Regional Champion and national semifinalist in 2017.
Drake’s practice focuses on high-exposure matters at both the trial court and appellate court level. Before joining the firm, she clerked for federal judges at the district court level and in the Eleventh Circuit. She graduated first in her class from the Florida State University College of Law.
