Lightfoot Attorney James Gibson Profiled by Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program
June 22, 2017
Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC attorney James W. Gibson was featured in the June 16th eBrief published by the Birmingham Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyers Program (BBVLP).
The “Attorney Spotlight” on Gibson profiled his recent success in handling a pro bono case for a client who purchased an “as-is” used car from a dealership. The dealer refused to give the woman a refund when the car turned out to be undrivable. Gibson negotiated a complete refund of the car’s purchase price for his client.
“My client bought the vehicle with cash she saved up with the intent of having a reliable car to get to her new job,” Gibson said. “Without a vehicle or a refund, she would have been unable to work on most days.”
Gibson, along with several other Lightfoot attorneys, volunteers with the BBVLP regularly. Birmingham Bar Association leaders created the organization in 1994 to promote access to justice by inspiring volunteer attorneys to provide high-quality representation at no charge to low-income families with basic civil legal needs at critical times in their lives.
In his legal practice, Gibson represents clients in product liability, medical malpractice, and consumer fraud defense. He has significant trial and arbitration experience and is well-versed in all aspects of taking cases — straightforward and complex—to jury verdict.
