December 11, 2018
Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partners Lee M. Hollis and David R. Pruett, III have each authored a chapter in a recent book published by the American Bar Association.
The book, “From the Trenches III: Pretrial Strategies for Success,” is now in its third edition and features insights from experienced trial lawyers across the country. The various authors examine strategies and techniques for addressing each stage of a case.
Pruet wrote chapter 13, titled “Making the Kitchen Hotter: Effective Use of Motions to Compel,” and Hollis authored chapter 15, “The Final Screenplay: Final Trial Preparations, Witness Selection and Exhibits.”
Hollis has practiced law for more than 25 years, trying numerous wrongful death, personal injury and commercial cases to defense verdicts. He previously served as Chair of the Network of Trial Law Firms and was the Co-Chair of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association’s Trial Academy.
Pruet has close to 20 years of front-line trial and courtroom experience across the Southeast. He prosecutes and defends complex commercial suits in a range of industries, including healthcare, oil and gas, manufacturing, real estate, and banking, and he has special expertise in handling shareholder rights litigation.
This is not the first time a Lightfoot attorney has been published in the “From the Trenches” series. The second edition of the book, released last year, featured a chapter from partner Jack Sharman on preparing grand jury witnesses.
