Jared Levinthal Earns TBLS Board Certification in Civil Trial Law
February 3, 2025
Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC Houston managing partner Jared I. Levinthal has earned Board Certification in Civil Trial Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS).
“Jared’s board certification affirms his position among the top civil trial lawyers in Texas, and we are proud of him for this outstanding accomplishment,” said Melody H. Eagan, managing partner of Lightfoot’s Birmingham office.
TBLS board certification in civil trial law is obtained by an average of fewer than five attorneys per year statewide. Securing this achievement requires undertaking a rigorous process that involves demonstrating a high level of practice proficiency, including trying at least 15 civil trials that meet the TBLS substantive requirements. Only 734 lawyers in the entire state of Texas (out of over 110,000) are currently board certified in civil trial law.
Attorneys who are certified in a practice area are required to be licensed for at least five years, devote a certain percentage of their practice to a specialty area for at least three years, attend continuing education, undertake an evaluation by lawyers and judges and pass a written exam. To remain board-certified, attorneys must apply for recertification every five years.
Levinthal represents plaintiffs and defendants in all types of litigation, including complex commercial cases with millions of dollars — and often the company itself — at stake. He has practiced since 1997 after graduating from the University of Texas School of Law, with Honors, Order of the Coif.
