Jack Sharman Quoted About Mueller Report in Law360 and New York Daily News
March 27, 2019
Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partner Jack Sharman was quoted in two media outlets in the past week after special counsel Robert Mueller submitted his report to the U.S. Attorney General on Russian election interference and possible collusion with President Trump’s 2016 campaign.
Sharman was interviewed by the New York Daily News for its coverage of the breaking news last Friday. He was also quoted throughout a Law360 article published this week (subscription required).
In both articles, Sharman was quoted on processes and procedures for special counsel and what happens after final reports are submitted to the attorney general. He also discussed the historical role of the special counsel with Law360 and the implications of the Trump-Russia probe regarding who should appoint and oversee attorneys charged with investigating presidents in the future.
“It comes down to the old tug of war between the legislative branch and the executive branch,” he told Law360. “That is a movie you’ve seen before, and it will certainly continue.”
Over the course of the Mueller investigation, numerous media outlets have turned to Sharman for legal insight and commentary, including:
● Bloomberg
● Business Insider
● The Guardian
● The Hill
● MSNBC
● The New York Times
● Reuters
● Sirius XM’s P.O.T.U.S. channel
● USA Today
● The Washington Post
Sharman has practiced law for 30 years and leads the firm’s White Collar Criminal Defense and Corporate Investigations practice. He was the former special counsel to the House Banking Committee during its Whitewater investigation of President Bill Clinton in the 1990s. In 2016, he was appointed as special counsel to the Alabama House Judiciary Committee for the impeachment investigation of former Alabama Governor Robert Bentley.
