Jack Sharman to Resume Work as Special Counsel to Alabama House Judiciary Committee for Bentley Impeachment Investigation
March 7, 2017
The Alabama House of Representatives Judiciary Committee has unanimously passed a resolution directing Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partner Jack Sharman to resume his work related to the impeachment investigation of Governor Robert J. Bentley.
Sharman was retained in 2016 by the Judiciary Committee to serve as its guide through the Bentley investigation, any necessary hearings, as well as the impeachment process itself, if needed. Last November, the Judiciary Committee was asked by then Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange to suspend its investigation, which it did.
Since then, however, the Alabama Legislature has taken steps to resume the impeachment investigations. The Judiciary Committee’s approval for Sharman to begin his work again is one element of that process.
