Chris King, Amber Hall and Bridget Harris Publish Law360 Article on Diversity in Law Firm Partnerships
January 17, 2019
Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partner M. Christian King and associates Amber N. Hall and Bridget E. Harris have published an article with Law360 on the need for law firm diversity efforts to include the partnership level.
In their article, titled “Diversity's Next Step: Developing Minority Partners,” King, Hall and Harris argue that, while law firms have made promising strides when it comes to diversity among their associates, they are not seeing those minority lawyers move into their partnerships. The reason for this, say the authors, is that minority associates frequently lack supportive mentoring relationships with the partners in their firms.
The authors outline several practical ways for law firms to address this problem. This includes ensuring minority associates have meaningful interactions with clients, substantive roles in cases and matters, and mentors with the cultural awareness needed to foster supportive relationships.
King is one of the firm’s founding partners and has spent more than 35 years handling high-stakes, complex litigation for leading companies.
Hall represents clients in litigation involving medical malpractice and product liability.
Harris primarily practices in the areas of product liability, catastrophic injury, white collar criminal defense and corporate investigations, medical malpractice and commercial litigation.
