Bridget Harris Speaks at Alabama Lawyers Association's 2021 Annual Meeting
Lightfoot, Franklin & White associate Bridget E. Harris spoke at the Alabama Lawyers Association (ALA) 2021 Annual Meeting, which was held virtually this year. On May 20, Harris contributed to a session titled "Navigating Being an Associate," sharing insights from her experience as a young person of color growing her career in the legal profession. Her presentation included tips on how to succeed as an associate, from trial prep and memo writing, to navigating office politics.
The ALA serves the 900+ Black lawyers in the state and exists "to enhance the integrity of the legal profession, to improve the quality of legal services provided to the public and to protect the civil rights of the citizens of the State of Alabama." The organization is an affiliate member of the National Bar Association, the nation's oldest and largest national network of predominantly African-American attorneys and judges.
Harris primarily practices in the areas of product liability, catastrophic injury, medical malpractice and commercial litigation. She has previously presented on the issue of diversity in the legal industry, and was selected as one of the finest legal writers of 2020 by the Burton Awards, a national program run in association with the Library of Congress and presented by Law360, for an article that she co-authored, “Diversity’s Next Step: Developing Minority Partners.”
