Brandon Essig Named a Birmingham Business Journal 2017 ‘Veteran of Influence’
October 22, 2017
The Birmingham Business Journal has named Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partner Brandon K. Essig a 2017 “Veteran of Influence.” Honorees were recognized at a breakfast event on October 19 and in a special section of the publication’s October 20 issue.
The program recognizes military veterans “who have distinguished themselves in the Birmingham business world.” A special advisory committee considered criteria such as candidates’ contributions to their company, their track record of innovation and leadership and their role in the Birmingham community.
The BBJ also recognized Lightfoot, Franklin & White as a “Veteran-Friendly Employer.”
“Brandon is one of several veterans on the Lightfoot team, and we’re proud of his continued service and contribution to our community,” said the firm’s managing partner Wynn Shuford. “We are committed to our service members and their families, and are proud to be recognized for it.”
Essig was a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served as a prosecutor and advisor. He spent 10 months assigned to a Marine Corps infantry unit, including a seven-month deployment to Fallujah, Iraq. Essig’s military awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
Today, Essig is a member of the firm’s White Collar Criminal Defense and Corporate Investigations practice group. He joined Lightfoot after nearly eight years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Middle District of Alabama.
