Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC partner Ashby Pate has been elected as 2021-22 Secretary for the Birmingham Airport Authority’s board of directors, the governing authority of Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport. Pate was appointed to the board in 2020 by Birmingham’s mayor, Randall Woodfin, for a six-year term. The other 2021-2022 officers are:
-
Darlene Wilson of Relay Account Management, Chair
-
David Germany of Protective Life, Vice Chair

Birmingham-Shuttlesworth is Alabama’s largest airport, and the board guides the growth and expansion of the facility according to the Master Plan. Projects underway include a new Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Station, runway improvements and expansion, and development of additional airport land.
Pate focuses his practice on international disputes, appellate work, and commercial and medical device litigation. He routinely takes on some of the firm’s most controversial matters, including prosecuting a high-profile case that led to the suspension of former Alabama Supreme Court chief justice Roy Moore. As an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Palau, Pate helped design the island nation’s first-ever jury trial system.
